Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. vegetable oil
  • 1 med. onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 pound grnd beef
  • 1 c. regular rice, uncooked
  • 2 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce
  • 1 3/4 c. warm water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Dash of pepper

Directions

  1. If using instant rice, use only 1 1/2 cups water for 1 1/2 cups rice and simmer uncovered only 5 min.Heat oil, add in onion, beef and rice. Stir over high heat till golden brown. Add in tomato sauce and remaining ingredients. Mix well. Bring quickly to boil. Cover tightly and simmer 25 min. 1/2 cup grated cheese may be added before serving.
