Ingredients
- 1 (5 1/2-6 ounce) can tuna
- 2 stalks celery
- 1/4-1/2 c. minced sweet pickles (mix to your taste)
- Mayonnaise or possibly salad dressing, sufficient to make a nice spreading consistency
- 1 tomato
- 4 slices cheese
- 2 hamburger buns or possibly 4 thick slices of bread
Directions
- Chop celery finely, drain tuna and pickles. Mix well and add in mayonnaise. Spread on 1/2 of bun; top with tomato slice and then cheese. Place under broiler in oven till cheese melts and is slightly browned.Variation: Substitute 1 small can of crushed pineapple, liquid removed, for pickles and omit tomatoes. Follow other directions. Or possibly: This salad makes a delicious snack meal served with carrot strips, cinnamon pickles, pimento cheese sandwiches or possibly cheese toast.
