Ingredients
- 2 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon cloves
- 1/8 teaspoon allspice
- 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. molasses
- 1 tbsp. vinegar and sufficient sweet lowfat milk to make 1/2 c.
- 1 egg
Directions
- Sift flour, soda, salt and spices together. Cream shortening till fluffy. Add in egg and beat well. Beat in molasses. Combine vinegar and lowfat milk; add in alternately with dry ingredients and stir till well blended. Chill.
- Roll about 1/4 inch thick on floured board. Cut into desired shapes. Bake on cookie sheet at 375 degrees for about 12 min.
