We call this STEWP as it should be nice and thick so your spoon can stand up in it .

It is a traditional South African soup from our Dutch heritage
Ingredients
- 500 GMS sugar beans
- 500 gms beef shin
- 2 tomatoes peeled and chopped
- 2 med onions chopped
- 2 carrots grated
- 3 litre water
- salt and pepper
Directions
- Soak beans overnight in cold water
- Place all ingredients in a large pot and bring to the boil,
- simmer for 4 hours, or until the beans are soft and the meat shreds off the bone,
- add more water if necessary not too much as you want the soup thick,
- Let it stand for a day before eating
- Freezes well
- serve with baked sweet potatoes.
