Ingredients
- 3 slc Bacon, minced
- 3 c. Thinly sliced cabbage, (about 1/2 small head)
- 2 Tbsp. Water
- 1 slc Homemade-type white bread, grnd coarse in a food processor or possibly blender
- 1/4 tsp Caraway seeds
Directions
- In a heavy skillet cook bacon over moderate heat, stirring, till crisp and transfer with a slotted spatula to paper towels to drain. Transfer 1 tsp. drippings to a small bowl and reserve. In drippings remaining in skillet cook cabbage with salt and pepper to taste, stirring occasionally, till golden brown and add in water. Cook cabbage till crisp-tender and transfer to a serving dish.
- In skillet heat reserved drippings over moderately high heat till warm but not smoking and saute/fry bread crumbs and caraway seeds with salt and pepper to taste, stirring, till bread crumbs are golden brown. Stir in bacon and sprinkle over cabbage.
- Serves 2.
