Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F.
  2. Grease cookie sheet.
  3. Put yeast into small bowl.
  4. Add in 1/2 tsp. sugar and 1/2 c. water.
  5. Put in a hot place to rise.
  6. Put remaining 1/2 c. water into large mixing bowl.
  7. Add in 1 c. barley flour and mix vigorously.
  8. Add in remaining 1 1/2 tsp. brown sugar, oil, and salt and
  9. Mix well.
  10. Add in softened yeast and beat briskly.
  11. Add in bean flour and sufficient remaining barley flour to make dough which can
  12. be kneaded.
  13. Place on floured board and knead till smooth and elastic.
  14. Shape into two round loaves on greased cookie sheet and slash diagonally
  15. across tops.
  16. Let rise till double in bulk.
  17. Oil tops lightly, if you like, for more crispness.
  18. Bake at 350 F for 1 hour.17.Remove from pans onto wire rack and cold.

    I love home baked breads! What type of bean is in the bean flour. I am green in this department. Also, could I achieve a bean flour at home?

        Thank you for pointing this out, Pam. Barley does contain gluten and this is potentially dangerous. Will re-label immediately!

          BARLEY IS NOT GLUTEN FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU SHOULD REMOVE THIS RECIPE IMMEDIATELY.
