It sounds terrible, but it is sooo good! My daddy loved this cake. It was a toss up between this cake and a carrot cake at Father's Day and 9 times out of 10, this one won out. This cake stays moist for days ya'll and the kids will love it too - just don't tell them what's in it. I hope ya'll enjoy making it for your family as I did for my daddy.

Directions

  1. Mix oil, sugar & eggs - beat well. Add flour, spices and soda. Add buttermilk & vanilla. Add prunes.
  2. Bake at 350* for 35 minutes - do toothpick test. May need another 5 minutes.
  3. Icing
  4. 1 box powder sugar
  5. 1 stick soften butter
  6. 1/4 cup prune juice
  7. Ice cake when completely cool.

    Sorry to be such a dolt, but when you say "cooked prunes" do you mean to stew them first and then reserve the juice for the frosting?
