Ingredients

  • 2 x Bay leaves
  • 2 x Ham steaks, (each about 1/3 to 1/2 inch thick), patted dry (1-lb.)
  • 2 1/2 c. Apple cider
  • 3 Tbsp. Pure maple syrup
  • 2 Tbsp. Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 c. Madeira

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F. Place bay leaves in 15x10x2-inch glass baking dish.
  2. Place ham steaks side by side in dish, overlapping slightly if necessary.
  3. Pour 1 1/2 c. apple cider over ham steaks (cider won't cover steaks).
  4. Whisk 2 Tbsp. maple syrup and mustard in small bowl to blend; spread over top of ham steaks, dividing equally. Sprinkle with pepper. Bake ham steaks 40 min.
  5. Meanwhile, combine 1 c. apple cider, 1 Tbsp. maple syrup and Madeira in medium saucepan. Boil till reduced to 1/2 c., about 15 min.
  6. Spoon sauce over ham and serve.
  7. Makes 4 servings.
