Cherry Crisp Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 c. pitted tart pie cherries (fresh, frzn or possibly canned, drain, if canned)
  • 1/2 c. granulated sugar
  • 1 c. old-fashioned oatmeal, uncooked
  • 1/3 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 c. sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 c. butter (see note)
  • 1/2 c. coarsely minced nuts

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine cherries and sugar in saucepan; bring to a boil over medium heat. Stir till sugar is dissolved; pour into greased 11-by-7 inch baking dish. Combine oatmeal, brown sugar, flour and salt in mixing bowl; mix well. Add in butter; cut in with pastry blender till crumbly. Add in nuts, mix well. Sprinkle over cherry mix. Bake 25 to 30 min; serve hot. -
