Baked Apple French Toast Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 lrg Loaf french bread (16 ounce)
  • 8 x Large eggs
  • 3 c. Lowfat milk
  • 3/4 c. Sugar, divided
  • 1 1/4 Tbsp. Vanilla
  • 5 x Granny smith apples
  • 2 Tbsp. Cinnamon
  • 2 Tbsp. Butter
  • 1 tsp Netmeg

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Spray 9x13 pan with vegetable oil spray. Slice bread into 1 1/2 inch slices. Place bread tightly together in one layer in 9x13 pan.
  2. Beat Large eggs lightly-add in lowfat milk, 1/4 c. sugar, netmeg and vanilla and mix with whisk. Pour half of the liquid over the bread.
  3. Peel, core and slice apples into rings...place apple rings on top of bread to cover. Pour remaining egg mix over apples. Mix remaining 1/2 c. of sugar with cinnamon and sprinkle proportionately over apples. Dot with butter. Bake for 35 min. Cold for 5-10 min before serving. Serve with hot maple syrup.
