Baked Victorian French Toast Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 c. packaged brown sugar
  • 1 1/3 c. butter or possibly margarine
  • 2 Tbsp. light corn syrup
  • 4 slc Texas toast or possibly
  • 5 x Large eggs
  • 1 1/2 c. lowfat milk
  • 1 tsp grnd cinnamon strawberries peaches or possibly pear slices blueberries or possibly raspberries optional powdered sugar optional

Directions

  1. In a small saucepan, cook and stir brown sugar, butter or possibly margarine, and light corn syrup till butter or possibly margarine is melted. Pour brown sugar mix into an ungreased 12 x 7 1/2 x 2-inch deep baking dish Arrange bread slices in a single layer on top of the brown sugar mix. If necessary cut bread to tit into the dish.
  2. Set baking dish asideIn a medium mixing bowl, beat Large eggs, lowfat milk, and cinnamon till combined. Pour egg mix over bread in baking dish. Cover and chill for 2 to 24 hrs.
  3. Remove the cover from the baking dish. Bake in preheated 350 degree (F) oven for 30-35 min or possibly till the center appears set and the top is lightly browned, Let the French toast stand about 10 min before serving. If you like top with fruit and/or possibly sift powdered sugar over the top.
  4. Makes approzimately 6 slices.
