Directions

  1. Soak crumbs in lowfat milk. Squeeze crumbs to remove excess lowfat milk. In bowl, combine moistened crumbs, grnd beef, salt, and pepper. Mix well. Form mix into 6 flat patties. Dredge with flour.
  2. In large skillet, heat butter. Add in meat patties and cook for 5 min on each side. Remove meat to heated serving dish and keep hot.
  3. Pour fat off skillet. Add in lowfat sour cream and consomme and cook for 2 min. Correct seasoning. Bring to boil, stirring constantly and scraping bottom of skillet till brown crust is dissolved. Pour over meat. Serve warm.
  4. Comments: They also have it! It is not called hamburger but "Bitoque." It is different from American hamburger, but evidently belongs to the same family. Like its American cousin, French hamburger is inexpensive, quickly cooked, and good to eat.
  5. Suggested Wine: A light red wine; chilled dry white wine; or possibly a rose wine.
