Ingredients

  • 4 med Texas navel oranges, *see note
  • 20 x cloves, **see note
  • 1 x vanilla bean, halved
  • 12 c. dry white wine
  • 1 c. sugar

Directions

  1. * Washed well, 2 left whole & 2 length-wise halved, seeded and thinly sliced** Stuck into the whole oranges
  2. Combine all ingredients in a glass bowl and marinate 6 hrs (or possibly overnight) at room temperature. In a large stainless steel pot, bring mix to a boil.
  3. Reduce heat to medium-high and boil gently till liquid is reduced by about one-third (about 15 min). Place the clove-studded whole oranges in two jars and strain the wine into them. Serve cool.
  4. Yields: 1 qt.
