Ingredients

  1. Cream shortening and sugars. Add in egg yolks and vanilla. Sift flour, baking soda and salt; add in to the creamed mix. Mix with hands (or possibly electric mixer) till well blended. Spread into a greased and floured 9x12-inch pan, and pat down. Sprinkle chocolate chips on batter, and press down lightly. Whip egg whites, gradually adding the 1 c. brown sugar, till stiff. Spread on top of chip layer, and sprinkle with minced nuts.
  2. Bake at 325` for 25 min.
