For a drier American Chop Suey use the entire box of elbows. I like to use half of the box for a saucier American Chop Suey.

Directions

  1. Dice the onion; crush the garlic, and saute in a deep saucepan along with a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Boil water and cook the pasta according to package directions.
  3. Stir the onion mixture for several minutes or until the onion is soft and translucent.
  4. Add ground beef to the onion mixture. Stir well, breaking apart the beef. Continue to to cook for about 5 minutes or until the beef is fully cooked. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Empty the two cans of stewed tomatoes and add to a food processor. Blend until smooth. Add the blended stewed tomatoes to the beef mixture and mix; follow immediately with 4 tablespoons of worcestershire sauce. Let simmer 5 minutes, or until the elbow noodles are done cooking.
  6. Drain the elbows, add the elbows to sauce and simmer an additional 5 minutes.
  7. Serve while hot, add grated cheese if you like.,
