Texas Turkey Burgers Recipe

  • 1 lb grnd turkey or possibly chicken
  • 1/2 c. barbecue sauce
  • 1 can minced green chilies - (4 ounce) liquid removed
  • 4 slc Monterey Jack cheese with jalapeno peppers (1 ounce ea)
  • 4 x hamburger buns split

Directions

  1. Mix turkey, barbecue sauce and chilies. Shape mix into 4 patties, each about 3/4 inch thick.
  2. Set oven control to broil. Place patties on rack in broiler pan. Broil with tops about 3 inches from heat 10 to 14 min, turning once, till turkey is no longer pink in center. About 1 minute before burgers are done, top each with cheese slice. Broil till cheese is melted.
  3. To Grill: Grill patties covered 4 to 6 inches from medium coals 14 to 16 min, turning once, till turkey is no longer pink in center. About 1 minute before burgers are done, top each with cheese slice. Grill till cheese is melted.
  4. This recipe yields 4 sandwiches.
