Ingredients

Cost per serving $2.66 view details
  • 12 ounce Belgian white beer
  •     (or possibly pilsner beer)
  • 1 Tbsp. grated fresh ginger
  • 2 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 tsp freshly-grnd black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 lb peeled and deveined shrimp uncooked
  •     (large or possibly 16 to 20 per lb size)
  • 4 x skewers

Directions

  1. In large bowl, whisk together all ingredients except shrimp. Stir in shrimp to coat. Cover and chill at least 2 hrs or possibly overnight.
  2. Heat grill. Thread shrimp onto 4 (10- to 12-inch) metal skewers. Place on gas grill over medium heat or possibly on charcoal grill 4 to 6 inches from medium coals. Cook 5 min or possibly till shrimp turn pink, brushing occasionally with marinade and turning once.
  3. This recipe yields 4 servings.
  4. Serving Ideas: Salty French fries and malt vinegar.
  5. Comments: Belgian white beer is lightly scented with orange rind and spices, a good match for the shrimp. But you can substitute any beer. Marinating overnight infuses the flavors more deeply. This dish is easily doubled or possibly tripled.
