Servings: 8
Ingredients
- 1/2 stick butter, melted
- 1 c. lukewarm lowfat milk
- 1 egg
- 2 T plus 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 pkg. powdered yeast
- 1/8 c. hot water
- 4 c. flour or possibly more if needed
Directions
- Dissolve yeast and sugar in the warm water, then mix all ingredients together and work into a dough which can be easily handled. Grease the bowl and cover with plastic wrap and then place a towel on top to avoid drafts. Let rise 1 hour till dough is double in bulk.Meanwhile, heat 1/2 stick of butter. Put together 1/2 cup sugar and 1 tbsp cinnamon. Have a 1/2 cup minced nuts also. Spray a ringed spring form pan.
- When dough is ready, punch down and then make small balls, approximately 2 inches. Roll the balls first in the butter, then in the cinnamon and sugar, then nuts and place them side by side in the pan in a single layer, squeeze together if necessary.
- Cover again and let rise till double, approximately 1 hour. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Place pan on center shelf of oven and bake 20 min. Let rest in pan for 5 min then invert on dish and remove from pan.
- NOTE: I make the dough the night before and let it rise overnight, then proceed the next morning to make the balls, etc.
