Flan (Fat Free) Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 can condensed lowfat milk, sweetened Nonfat, (12 ounce)
  • 1 1/2 c. skim lowfat milk egg substitute to equal 4 large Large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions

  1. In heavy saucepan, heat sugar over high heat, stirring constantly till completely dissolved and carmelized. Pour into ungreased 9" round cake or possibly flan pan and set aside. Combine remaining ingredients, mix well and pour over carmelized sugar. Cover pan with aluminium foil and set inside largerbaking dish. Pour warm water around inner pan to depth of 1". Bake at 350Ffor 50 - 55 min or possibly till knife inserted in center comes clean. Remove from pan and refrigeratethoroughly (4 - 6 hrs). To serve: Run knife around edges of pan to loosen, invert onto serving platter and cut into wedges.
  2. Makes 8 - 10 servings.
  3. Variation: Add in 1/4 c. instant coffee crystals to skim lowfat milk, microwave or possibly cook over low heat till dissolved. Cold to room temperature and continue asabove. (Personally my favorite way to make this).
