Directions

  1. Heat a large frying pan. Add the meat and cook; breaking the meat up as it cooks.
  2. Add the onion, bell pepper and the garlic and continue to sauté until the onion is transparent.
  3. Add the crushed tomatoes and the seasonings and half of the basil chopped.
  4. Simmer the sauce on low slightly covered for about 30 minutes.
  5. Check for the seasoning and season again to if needed.
  6. Prepare the macaroni as directed.
  7. Garnish with a little extra olive oil, grated cheese and the rest of the fresh basil.

    Catherine always offers creative and tasty home made recipes that are easy and quick to prepare often she'll include additional workarounds to save time or substitute ingredients. She is indeed resourceful most likely has fought on the front lines in a restaurant and fed a bevy of children, not to mention the neighborhood kids. She is a Star!!
    One feature of this recipe I really appreciate there is no tomato paste which to me always gets in the way of the "garden fresh" qualities a superb vegetable compliment offers.
    This recipe I would have to include thinly sliced sauted celery or at least ground celery seed it just compliments with the veggies meat and pasta so well
    I've cooked/tasted this recipe!
