  • 1/2 c. unsalted butter - (to 1 c.) melted, cooled
  • 3 c. self-rising flour
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp coarse salt
  • 1 can beer - (12 ounce) Fruit preserves for serving

Directions

  1. Over a campfire, heat sufficient butter to cover the bottom of a large cast-iron skillet by 1/4 inch. Place flour, sugar, and salt in a medium bowl. Stir to combine. Add in beer, and stir till a soft, sticky dough forms.
  2. Scrape dough into warm pan. Dip fingers in cooled melted butter, and press bread proportionately into pan. Cover dough with a thin layer of melted butter. Cook 10 min. Flip, and cook till brown, about 10 min more. Serve topped with a dollop of fruit preserves.
  3. This recipe yields 4 servings.
