Ingredients

  • Indian Split Peas and Rice (4 side dish servings, adapted from here)
  • 1 cup dried, split peas
  • 1/2 cup rice
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 6 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 3″ piece of ginger, grated
  • 4.5 cups of water
  • salt and pepper
  • sliced tomatoes and lemon juice for garnish
  • To make this dish in the slow cooker:
  • Combine all ingredients and reduce liquid to 3 3/4 cup water. Cook on high for 6 hours.
