Ingredients
- 1 c. butter
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. dark corn syrup
- 1/2 c. molasses
- 4 teaspoon soda
- 2 teaspoon ginger
- 2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 5 c. sifted flour (or possibly more, sufficient to roll thick)
Directions
- Mix together butter, sugar, syrup and molasses. Sift together flour, soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and salt. Alternate flour mix and buttermilk and combine into butter and sugar. Roll out quite thick. Bake at 375 degrees for about 10 min. Don't over bake, they are best if soft. Frost with powdered sugar, butter and vanilla frosting. Makes about 8 dozen cookies.
