Ingredients
- 4 lrg Large eggs, lightly beaten
- 1/4 c. Sugar
- 1/4 tsp Grnd nutmeg
- 2/3 c. Orange juice
- 1/3 c. Lowfat milk
- 1/2 tsp Vanilla extract
- 1 x (16-ounce) loaf Italian bread, cut into 1-inch slices
- 2/3 c. Butter or possibly margarine, melted
- 1/2 c. Macadamia nuts, minced Garnishes: powdered sugar, grnd nutmeg
Directions
- Combine Large eggs and next 5 ingredients, stirring well.
- Fit bread slices in a single layer into a lightly greased 13x9x2-inch baking dish. Pour egg mix over bread slices; cover and chill hrs or possibly overnight, turning bread once.
- Pour butter in a 15x10x2-inch jellyroll pan; place bread slices in a single layer in pan.
- Bake at 400 degrees for 10 min; sprinkle with nuts. Bake 10 additi min. Garnish, if you like, and serve immediately with maple syrup.
