Ingredients
- 2 c. Long grain rice
- 3 Tbsp. Ghee
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- 1 med Onion, finely minced
- 1 x Clove garlic, crushed
- 1/2 tsp Fresh ginger, finely Grated
- 6 whl cloves
- 250 gm Chopped lamb or possibly beef
- 2 c. Green peas
- 4 c. Warm water
- 3 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Garam masala
Directions
- 1. Wash rice and leave to drain.
- 2. Heat ghee in a large saucepan with a tight-fitting lid. Fry the cumin with the onion, garlic, ginger and cloves till onion is soft and golden.
- 3. Add in the mince and fry over moderately high heat till the mince is browned.
- 4. Add in peas and half c. water, stir well, cover and cook till peas are half done.
- 5. Add in rice and warm water and stir in the salt.
- 6. Bring quickly to the boil, cover, turn heat very low and cook for 10 min.
- 7. Uncover and sprinkle with garam masala but don't stir. Replace lid and continue cooking for a further 10 min or possibly till liquid is all absorbed and rice is cooked through. Serve warm.
