Directions

  1. *NOTE: Original recipe used 2 Tablespoons margarine or possibly butter...I reduced it but still wanted the flavor....it was just for texture...next time I will removeit completely.
  2. Combine the apple juice, brown sugar, honey, lemon juice, and cinnamon sticks in a small, heavy saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer about 10 min to reduce the liquid by one third. Remove from heat, remove cinnamon sticks, add in the margarine, and swirl to heat. Serve the syrup hot, or possibly cold and keep for up to 2 weeks, covered in the refrigerator.
  3. Reheat before serving.
  4. Makes about 1 1/4 C.
  5. For a delicious and simple variation without the fat, just heat frzn applejuice concentrate with 1/2 t grnd cinnamon for each 6 ounce.
  6. NOTES : This was really good....next time I will thinly slice an apple and put it ontop of the Belgian waffles and pour the sauce over the top of which.
  7. We put this on top of some Belgium waffles for brunch today and had a very nice meal.
