Chinese BBQ Pork (Char Siew) Recipe

Glossy, succulent and tender pork slices were accompanied with garlic chili sauce, cucumber slices, spring onion curls and rice.

  • 1 piece (about 300g) pork belly - wash and pat dry
  • 1 tbsp ginger paste
  • 1 1/2 tbsp bbq sauce
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1/2 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 1/2 tsp all spice powder
  • 1/2 tbsp Chinese wine (optional)
  • Pepper and salt for taste

Directions

  1. Marinate pork with all the ingredients.
  2. Use a fork to poke to allow the ingredients to sip through.
  3. Place in the fridge and marinate for at least 4 hours.
  4. Rub oil on a baking tray.
  5. Place pork (including the marinated ingredient) on it.
  6. Bake at 200c for about 1 hour or till cooked, also flip to cook on
  7. the other side.
  8. Remove from oven, cool down and slice it.
  9. Serve with chili sauce, cucumber slices and spring onion curls.
