About me
I'm no professional cook but I am my husband's QUEEN of the kitchen. We love eating and discovering different dishes and flavors of contemporary foods in the market. It's just apt that cooking is my passion and my comfort zone. I love making my own version of the dishes I read and watch over the net. I also tend to re-invent my mom's recipes, she's my mentor, my cooking icon, I just try not to overdo it so as not to surpass(and challenge!) mom's ability to cook (haha!). I also have this attitude that when I want a course to be included in my menu, say a party is comin' up, I usually do some practice(and i get overly excited!) so that I can get the taste I wanted to have just before the event.
I'm also into baking cupcakes now, been trying to have the best recipe for each trial I make. None so far had made me decide as to what to stick to, but I'm eager to learn all the do's and hoopla's to discover the most tasty and delicious cupcakes I can make and be proud of.
Cooking Influences
Mom can attest to the fact that I am her cooking successor. She knows that even when I was just a kid, I watch her cook and bake different dishes. I'm her sous chef during parties in our house. Guests will always commend her for the delicious food she prepared, and I feel so proud of myself because I know I'm part of the taste satisfaction rating remarks from those people (hehe..).
Now that I have my own family, the need to have my husband be satisfied with our daily meals have been a challenge for me. The day to day basis of what to cook for lunch and dinner was such a stressful decision that I tend to go lazy-lad and buy cooked food or dine out instead. But when I remember how mom cooks simple food but feels so special on a normal day meal, I instantly snaps back to cooking mode, and draw inspiration from my childhood memories on how we enjoyed every meal prepared by mom, the magic chef.
Now, I try to re-invent food in the best of my ability, and make each meal a customary FEAST. The abilities of my hand to prepare good food for my family is an important goal I have and will achieve. The kitchen is my kingdom, the king and my pretty little princess deserves no better food than those that I will cook. The 'muchness' of a 'cooking life' will not only depend by the taste of the food, but most especially on how you cooked and prepared it with love and affection, banqueted together with good laugh and meaningful conversation.
