Old enough to know, still young enough to learn!
My grandmother and grandfather and mother brought Italian family recipes to the U.S. from Italy in the 1930's and made it a 'family affair' every weekend and especially on Sundays. With mom as a stay-at-home cook, she perfected her cooking like no one else I have ever known...mom, you are the best and I love you dearly for ever and ever. My dream is to continue the family recipes for the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren by writing your cookbook. Although raised with mostly Italian cooking, we learned healthy eating over the years.
So my added recipes are a combination of authentic Italian to All American. Beginning in 1973 as a new resident to California, we began experiencing new flavors from all over the world, of every culture possible that a big city had to offer, always seeking out the finest restaurants. From authentic Mexican food to fresh seafood, there was much territory to cover in the western states of the U.S. Today, after 41 years, we are still seeking out new cultural foods and new tastes of all kind, and like so many other things in life, cooking has become 'an art and science'.
I believe in our youth with their creativity, design, and on the edge cooking; I also believe in traditional cuisine, the tried and true, that hopefully will never be lost since much of it has been passed down from generation to generation for so many centuries, and perfected with each generation.
I have cooked for 48 people and cooked for one--coincidentally the same effort is made no matter what. Every meal I have ever made, whether youth or elder, is praised as the best they have ever had. My cousin even says, "I should have been a professional chef", but I already am in my own right, with the luxury to cook when I feel like it.
This community was a dream come true to share my recipes, to learn still more from others, and sometimes offer the 'tweaks' that just might make a difference. I believe we share not only the love of cooking, but a venue to be independently creative, tested and rated, which I welcome you all.
