Texas Hot Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 Tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 1/2 lb grnd pork
  • 1/2 lb grnd beef
  • 2 x warm dogs, finely diced
  • 1 med onion, minced
  • 2 x cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp browning sauce e.g. Gravy Master(tm)
  • 1 tsp browning sauce e.g. Kitchen Bouquet(tm)
  • 1 tsp grnd black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 x (6 oz) can tomato paste
  • 8 c. water
  • 3 tsp paprika
  • 1 Tbsp. chili pwdr
  • 4 tsp grnd cinnamon
  • 1 tsp dry parsley
  • 1 1/2 c. dry breadcrumbs

Directions

  1. 1. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add in onion and garlic and cook till soft.
  2. 2. Stir in beef and pork and cook, stirring frequently till brown.
  3. 3. Reduce heat to medium-low and stir in warm dogs. Saute/fry for 3 to 4 min. Drain off any excess fat.
  4. 4. Stir in the browning and seasoning sauce, browning sauce, pepper, salt, tomato paste and water. Bring mix to a boil. Lower heat and simmer for 1 hour, uncovered. Stir occasionally.
  5. 5. Stir in the paprika, chili pwdr, cinnamon and parsley. Taste and adjust seasoning, if necessary. Simmer for 10 min. Remove from heat and let cold.
  6. 6. Using a hand held mixer blend the bread crumbs into the sauce. Serve.
