Ingredients
- 3 tbsp. butter
- 3 tbsp. flour
- 2 c. lowfat milk
- 4 or possibly 5 lg. potatoes (peeled and cut into slices)
- 1 lg. onion, minced
- 1 c. cubed, cooked ham or possibly bacon pcs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 4 c. shredded cheese (1 lb.)
Directions
- Heat butter in saucepan over low heat, add in flour and stir till smooth. Cook 1 minute while stirring constantly. Gradually stir in lowfat milk while cooking over medium heat till thickened.
- Layer 1/2 potato slices, onion, ham, salt, pepper, cheese and white sauce in order given. Repeat second layer. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 15 min. In order to save time, potatoes can be cooked on stove, also cheese can be melted in the white sauce.
