Ingredients

  • 1/3 c. soy sauce
  • 1/3 c. dry sherry
  • 2 x green onions thinly sliced
  • 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp dry mustard
  • 1/8 tsp grnd ginger
  • 1 x garlic clove chopped
  • 1 x boneless beef top round steak, 1" thick (1 1/2 to 2 lbs)
  •     Additional soy sauce (optional)

Directions

  1. For marinade, combine 1/3 c. soy sauce, sherry, green onions, brown sugar, mustard, ginger, and garlic; mix well. Trim fat from steak. Place steak in a plastic bag set into a shallow dish. Add in marinade; seal bag. Turn steak to coat well. Refrigeratefor 8 to 24 hrs, turning steak occasionally. Remove steak from bag, reserving marinade.
  2. Arrange preheated coals around a drip pan in a covered grill. Test for medium heat above pan. Place steak on grill over drip pan. Cover and grill for 28 to 30 min or possibly till medium doneness, brushing occasionally with marinade up to the last 5 min of grilling.
  3. Remove steak from grill and cover it with foil. Cut into thin slices. Serve with additional soy sauce, if you like.
  4. This recipe yields 6 to 8 servings.
