Ingredients
- 2Â 2/3 c. flour (up to 3)
- 2 pkt yeast
- 2 tsp salt
- 1Â 1/2 c. water
- 1/3 c. molasses
- 4 tsp shortening
- 2/3 c. rolled oats
- 1Â 1/3 c. whole wheat flour
- 1 whl egg
- 1 c. walnuts minced
- 1 Tbsp. water
- 2 Tbsp. rolled oats
Directions
- Combine 2 c. flour, yeast, and salt; mix well. In saucepan, heat water, molasses, shortening, and rolled oats till hot. Add in to flour. Blend 3 min. Stir in walnuts and wheat flour. Add in remaining flour to create soft dough. Knead 5 to 8 min. Cover. Let rise 30 min. Divide dough in 2. Shape each into round loaf. Let rise 40 min. Slash top. Brush with egg. Sprinkle with oats if you like. Bake at 375 for 30 to 35 min.
