Grilled Chicken (Dak Gui) Recipe

Ingredients

  • 5 lb skinless bone-in chicken
  • 1 x onion chopped
  • 1 x garlic clove chopped
  • 1 piece ginger root (1" long) chopped
  • 1/3 c. soy sauce
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. Korean malt syrup
  • 2 Tbsp. Korean sesame oil
  • 1 tsp freshly-grnd black pepper

Directions

  1. Rinse chicken in cool water. Drain and blot with paper towels. Score chicken pcs on both sides with sharp knife, making a few shallow cuts on each piece.
  2. Combine onion, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sugar, malt syrup, oil and pepper in large bowl. Rub marinade all over chicken. Cover and chill 3 hrs or possibly preferably overnight.
  3. Grill chicken over medium-high heat till cooked through, about 30 to 40 min, turning occasionally.
  4. This recipe yields 6 servings.
