1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 healthy pinch salt
1 c. applesauce
1 1/2 c. flour
1/3 c. cocoa
1 1/2 teaspoon apple pie spice
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon water

Directions

Cream shortening and sugar. Add in egg, beat well. Add in applesauce. Sift flour, cocoa and spice three times. Dissolve baking soda in water; add in to other ingredients and mix well.Bake in greased muffin tins in 350 degree oven for 25 to 30 min. Yields 1 dozen.
