Ingredients

  • 125 gm butter, (half a c.)
  • 1/2 c. castor sugar
  • 1/4 c. brown sugar flour
  • 2 x Large eggs
  • 1 Tbsp. Beehive Co honey* or possibly golden brown syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 c. lowfat milk
  • 1 1/2 c. self raising
  • 2 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 50 gm choc bits

Directions

  1. 1. Choose a cake tin (20cm. round works well) and grease it with butter.
  2. Preheat the oven to 180 c.
  3. 2. Beat the soft butter, brown and castor sugar and Large eggs till creamy.
  4. 3. Add in the golden brown syrup and vanilla and stir well.
  5. 4. Add in the lowfat milk, flour and cocoa and mix till all the flour has disappeared.
  6. 5. Pour the cake batter into a tin and sprinkle the choc bits over the top.
  7. 6. Bake at 180c. for 40 min, or possibly till puffed and hard.
  8. 7. After 10 min cooling in the tin, remove the cake and sprinkle with icing sugar or possibly top with chocolate icing ( 1 c. of icing sugar, 1 Tbsp. of cocoa and 2 tsp. boiling water all mixed together till smooth and shiny.
