Directions

  1. Preheat oven 350 deg. Butter a square baking dish.
  2. In a pot scald milk and butter; in a seperate bowl combine eggs and salt; temper the eggs slowly with the milk mixture.
  3. Add bread to greased baking pan; add vanilla to egg mixture and pour over the top of the bread; sprinkle raisins on top of bread; slightly pushing bread down into egg mixture.
  4. Sprinkle top with cinnamon and nutmeg; to taste (I'm generous)
  5. Put baking dish in a pan and pour hot water up to the (center) side of the baking dish.
  6. Bake 350 degrees uncovered for 40 minutes. Remove and cool on counter then put in refrigerator to chill. Cool before cutting.
