  • 2 Tbsp. Butter -- or possibly margerine
  • 1 c. Lowfat milk
  • 3/4 c. Grated sharp cheddar
  • 1/4 Tbsp. Salt
  • 1/8 Tbsp. Pepper -- Grnd nutmeg ( Less
  • 2 slc Bacon -- cooked
  • 14 x Asparagus spears

Directions

  1. In heavy saucepan stir flour into melted butter till smooth;cook over low heat 3 min ( don't brown ).Add in lowfat milk; continue cooking over low heat, stirring constantly, till nearly thickened. Add in cheese;stir till cheese is melted and sauce is bubbling. Add in salt, pepper, nutmeg and crumbled bacon. Serve over warm liquid removed asparagus. 6 serv.
