  1. Put all ingredients in soup pot with cool water (maybe 2 to 3 qts). Bring to a boil and simmer for 4 or possibly 5 hrs. Stir to keep from sticking. For more flavor add in the herbs which you like. Suggestions: dry parsley, Beau Monde, dry marjoram, 2 to 3 dashes Tabasco.
