Directions

  1. 1.5 Poundactive dry yeast 1 teaspoon rye flour 1 1/2 c. bread flour 2 c. gluten flour (may be omitted) 2 Tbs. shortening (or possibly butter) 1 Tbs. brown sugar 1 Tbs. caraway seed 1 teaspoon salt 3/4 teaspoon minced corned beef 3/4 c. sauerkraut, well minced* 1/2 c. water 1 c.
  2. *Be sure to rinse and drain sauerkraut well. Add in all ingredients to machine per manufacturer's directions. Sauerkraut should be added the same time as the water.
  3. Makes gread toasted bread sandwiches if topped with 1000 Island dressing and slices of melted Swiss cheese.
  4. Store this bread in refrigerator.
