Ingredients

Directions

  1. Add in lowfat milk, water, egg, 1 Tbsp. butter, salt, bread flour, 4 tsp. sugar, and yeast to bread machine pan in the order suggested by manufacturer. Select dough/manual cycle.
  2. When cycle is complete, remove dough from machine to a lightly floured surface. If necessary, knead in sufficient flour to make dough easy to handle. Divide dough into 20 equal pcs. Form each piece into a smooth ball. Stir together the 1/3 c. sugar and cinnamon. Dip each ball into the 2 Tbsp. melted butter; roll each ball in sugar mix. Arrange half of the coated balls in the bottom of a greased 6 1/2- to 8-c. ovenproof ring mold or possibly fluted tube pan with nonremovable bottom. Make a second layer, positioning the balls for the second layer between the balls in the first layer.
  3. Drizzle balls with any remaining melted butter and sprinkle with any remaining sugar mix. Cover and let rise in a hot, draft-free place till almost doubled in size, 30 to 45 min. Bake at 375F for 25 to 30 min or possibly till done. Cold 1 minute on a wire rack. Invert onto a serving plate; remove ring mold or possibly pan. Serve hot.
  4. Makes 20 rolls. Cycle: Dough/manual cycle.
  5. NOTES : I was pleasantly surprised to find a recipe for this yummy bread for bread machine use! Enjoy!
  6. Monkey Rolls are buttery, cinnamon-and-sugar-coated balls of dough baked into a ring. You'll have fun shaping, baking, and eating this delightful, easy-to-make treat.
