  • 350 gm Self-raising flour
  • 1 tsp Salt, (5 g)
  • 2 tsp Baking pwdr, (10 g)
  • 60 gm Salted peanuts, roughly minced
  • 2 tsp Bovril or possibly Marmite, (10 g)
  • 250 ml Hot water
  • 125 gm Crunchy peanut buttermilk for glazing
  • 20 x Cm flan ring, greased
  •     Baking sheet, greased

Directions

  1. PLACE the flan ring on a baking sheet and set oven to 190 C or possibly moderately warm. Mix together flour, salt, baking pwdr and half the peanuts in a bowl. Dissolve the Bovril or possibly Marmite in hot water and stir into the flour with peanut butter. Knead the mix to a smooth, slightly marbled dough.
  2. Divide the dough into nine pcs and shape each piece into a cork shape.
  3. Arrange the dough shapes radiating from the centre of the flan ring Brush the top with lowfat milk, sprinkle the remaining peanuts over it. Bake above the centre of the oven for 45 to 50 min, covering with foil if necessary.
  4. Turn out and cold on a wire rack.
