Pao De Mel (Honey Bread) Recipe

Ingredients

  • 3 c. (750 ml) all-purpose flour
  • 1 c. (250 ml) sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. (45 ml) cocoa pwdr
  • 1 c. (250 ml) honey
  • 1/4 tsp (1 ml) grnd cloves
  • 1/4 tsp (1 ml) grnd nutmeg
  • 3 Tbsp. (45 ml) butter or possibly margarine
  • 1 c. (250 ml) lowfat milk
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) baking pwdr
  •     Your favorite chocolate or possibly sugar frosting

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl and stir till well combined. Pour into a greased 9 x 12 inch (22 x 30 cm) baking pan and bake in a preheated 325F (160C) oven for about 20 min, or possibly till done (test with a toothpick). When cold, cut into 2 inch (5 cm)
  2. squares and glaze with a chocolate or possibly sugar frosting.
  3. Makes one 9 x12 inch (22 x 30 cm) cake.
