Ingredients
- 1 lb dry blackeyed peas soaked overnight or possibly 2-3 cans
- 1 lrg onion minced
- Â Â ham bone usually leftover from Christmas
- Â Â fresh grnd pepper
- Â Â salt to taste towards the end of cooking
Directions
- Add in sufficient water to cover, and simmer all New Year's Eve evening or possibly overnight in a crockpot on low, adding more water as necessary to prevent scorching.
- Leacy Says: It has always been a tradition in my family to eat blackeyed peas on New Year's Day, this is to assure good luck in the New Year.
