Ingredients
- 1 loaf Italian bread - (abt 16" long) unsliced
- 2 c. shredded romaine lettuce
- 2 Tbsp. Italian dressing
- 1/4 tsp dry oregano
- 1/2 lb sliced salami
- 1 pkt sliced provolone cheese - (6 ounce)
- 1 lrg tomato thinly sliced
- 1/2 lb sliced deli ham
- 1 jar roasted peppers - (7 ounce) liquid removed, patted dry
- 6 x pepperoncini sliced
- 1 can sliced black olives - (2 1/4 ounce) liquid removed
- 1 x red onion thinly sliced
Directions
- Slice bread in half lengthwise. With a fork, carefully rake out the bottom half of the loaf to make a hollow. Place lettuce in the hollow.
- In a small bowl, combine Italian dressing and oregano, mix well and drizzle over lettuce.
- Layer salami, cheese, tomato, ham, roasted pepper, pepperoncini, olives, and onions over lettuce. Cover with the other half of the loaf and slice into individual portions.
- To make cutting easy, push long toothpicks into the sandwich then use a serrated knife to cut between the toothpicks.
- This recipe yields 6 servings.
