  • 1 c. Sifted all-purpose flour
  • 2 Tbsp. Sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp Baking pwdr
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2/3 c. Yellow corn meal
  • 2 Tbsp. Shortening
  • 1 x Slightly beaten egg
  • 3/4 c. Lowfat milk
  • 1 lb (8 to 10) frankfurters

Directions

  1. Sift together flour, sugar, baking pwdr and salt. Stir in corn meal. Cut in shortening till mix resembles fine crumbs. Combine egg and lowfat milk; add in to corn meal mix, stirring till well blended. Insert wooden skewer into end of each frank. Spread franks proportionately with batter. Fry in deep warm oil (375 F.) till brown, 4 to 5 min. Serve with catsup and mustard.
