Bread, White Kneaded Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 c. hot water
  • 2 tsp yeast
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar mix together the above, to proof the yeast
  • 6 c. flour
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. shortening
  • 1 Tbsp. salt

Directions

  1. Mix dry ingredients and then add in yeast mix.
  2. You may add in more flour till it is as dry as machine will handle. Then knead bread to the proper consistency. I will usually add in up to another c. of flour when kneading. Let rise in oiled dish till doubled. Knock down and form into loaves and place in greased loaf pans. Let rise till doubled, bake in preheated 425 degree F oven for 30 min or possibly till done.
  3. I make 4 loaves from this recipe. Pans measure 8.5 X4.5 X 3.5 inside measurements.
  4. For whole wheat and rye, I substitute 2 3 c. of flour for the white flour.
