These delicious dogs are made right in your slow cooker...no need to stand outside by a hot grill, or to heat up your kitchen either, because your slow cooker will do all the work while you stay cool and comfortable.

  • 1 lb. lean ground beef (should be 90/10)
  • ¼ cup diced onion (about ½ one small onion)
  • 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • ½ cup water
  • 2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp. yellow mustard
  • ½ tsp. garlic powder
  • ½ tsp. chili powder
  • ½ tsp. ground black pepper
  • dash cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 8 hot dogs
  • 8 hot dog buns
  • Optional garnish: shredded cheddar cheese, relish, chopped onion

Directions

  1. Cook beef and onion over medium heat in a large skillet until meat is no longer pink; drain off fat.
  2. Stir in tomato sauce, water, Worcestershire sauce, mustard and spices.
  3. Place hot dogs in slow cooker; top with beef mixture.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours or until heated through. Serve on buns with cheese, relish and onions if desired.
