Ingredients

1 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 egg, separated
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Directions

Blend the butter and sugar
Add the egg yolk and vanilla
Mix well
Set aside
Combine the flour, cinnamon, and salt
Gradually add to the butter mixture
Spread the dough in a greased 15 x 10 jelly-roll pan
Cover with plastic wrap
Press evenly into the prepared pan
Remove the plastic wrap and set aside
Beat the egg white until frothy
Brush over the dough
Sprinkle with the pecans
Bake at 300 F for 30 minutes
Cut into 1 1/2 inch diamond shapes while still warm
