  • 1 3/4 cup granulated sugar (divided)
  • 8 cup rustic bread (slightly stale and cut into 1-inch cubes)
  • 3 cup whole milk
  • 4 large eggs (lightly beaten)
  • 2 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground all spice
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter (softened)
